Resumen: English teaching under the communicative approach has been adapted to many methodologies, prioritizing certain aspects of the English language learning. In this research, a methodology first developed for the teaching of the mother tongue is used; the Didactic Sequence. This
methodology focuses on students’ language production whilst providing them with opportunities
to understand a contextualized topic. The D.S. implemented aimed to enhance the students’ ability to compose argumentative oral texts about climate change. Following a quantitative analysis comparing students' productions before and after the implementation of the D.S. through a Pre-test and a Post-test, it was concluded that the Didactic Sequence improved the students’ desired ability. This suggested that the Didactic Sequence is a meaningful methodology for teaching English with a communicative approach. Since the Didactic Sequence was mediated by Emergency Remote Teaching, further research is needed in relation to the impacts of virtual environments and implementation amid a health crisis.
